Kids Work
At the heart...
We believe that family is important, and through the Children’s Work, we aim to be the hand that reaches out to people who don’t have families, people whose families are broken or hurting, sharing with them the love of God, and the joy He takes in seeing families work and us being a family to each other.
HCC also has a Sunday School. Click here for more information.
Most of our work into "family" is with children as we believe that our children can determine the future of families. They can be encouraged to be lights in their families, bringing joy where there isn’t, and by investing in them now, when they are older we could have a whole family orientated generation. So right at the heart are kids and our vision is:
To share the “Good News” of Jesus, in whatever way, with the children of Pinehurst so they are built up and encouraged, so they impact their families through the visible testimony of their lives, affecting the entire community, bringing a sense of hope, safety & peace.
We have 5 main aims, to try and see the vision realized, all of which have their own list of specific objectives not listed here: - To build relationships with children on the Pinehurst Estate and share the “Good News” with them. - To develop relationships with the local schools to build a link between school, community and church. - To establish relationships with the families on Pinehurst and to integrate families into church. - To encourage and help develop the spiritual lives of the children already attending our Sunday gatherings. - To encourage the body of the church (HCC) to support and pray for the children’s ministry & family services.
Who's who?
Ross Hartwig, age 26, started as HCC's Children's Worker in May 2007. He is supported by Ali Hoodless, the Core Team member responsible for the children's ministry. Although Ross effectively "works" alone, he has an incredible array of people, in various teams who make the children's ministry possible. He has volunteers for PAX, Tuesday Club, The GAP, Sunday School and of course the now mildly famous Holiday Club.
For 2011/2012, Ross is having some particular support from Aniello (Nello) Fruncillo and Laura-Ann Morris. They are serving HCC as part of a gap year called DNA. Part of that service is a dedicated 8 hours per week alongside Ross. They're helping out with clubs, administration, assemblies and being just a general helping hand. Click here to read their news, along with Amy Pearson who is also doing DNA at HCC.
