          1) Peace

          2) A time of wide ranging stability

PAX is the weekly club run by HCC, happening every Thursday afternoon @ the Pinehurst Community Centre. It is has no biases towards kids, whether from church or not, regardless of background. Below is some of our vision for PAX:

  • To see children from the Pinehurst Estate built up and encouraged. To see them learn about Jesus, discover His “Good News” for their lives, and begin to reach for and achieve their potential in Christ.
  • To impact the families of these children through the visible testimony of their lives and see “households” come to know Jesus.
  •  To touch the entire community, but particularly the children, with a Godly peace that brings a sense of hope & safety to the individuals that make up the community.
  •  As the definition states above, to see wide-ranging stability when the community is truly part of the Kingdom of God, with only Jesus as their king.
Format

Pax usually runs for an hour and a half, and follows lrgely the styles of YoungLife & Kids Klub. This is fast paced, pull of loads of short, usually energetic, little slots, mostly lead from the front. But there's also a "message" element, where a story from the Bible is often shared, or a particular verse, and then a life lesson is drawn out of that, something the kids can understand in practical ways.

We don't always stick to the crazy games, bizarre "skits" and amazing stories. Sometimes we just want to mess around, so we might add in a messy craft. Then we even scrap the "program" entirely and do a Social. This is either in the form of an outing, like going ten pin bowling, or one big game of activity for the entire 90 minutes at the normal club venue. So maybe a film, or water based outdoor games.

Although normal Pax club only runs during term time, we usually have a program for half terms and holidays. We've done scavenger hunts round local woods, multi sports days, even dance and basketball workshops!

Team

PAX is planned, run & led by Ross Hartwig, HCC's Children's Worker, but is supported by an invauable team of committed volunteers. Ross is a qualified first aider, so everyone stays safe. The teams volunteers range in age from 16 to much older than that, and that's a valuable thing. Helps kids build relationships with a wide range of people, from their peers, the generation above them and even people old enough to be their parents.

Pax all in all aims to see kids reach their potential, not necessarily in a particular skill, but in who they are. It's exciting to once shy kids coming out of their shells, and in some cases becoming leaders amongst their peers! Come check us out, every Thursday, term time.
