We began the Pines Pre-school in 2001 as a voluntary non-profit making setting to serve the local community, by providing both an affordable quality pre-school education, and further child-care with our Lunch Club session, allowing parents an extended morning to pursue work commitments, further learning or the opportunity to catch up with the demands of home.
The pre-school was originally located in a room at The Pines primary school, also on the Pinehurst estate. However when the school closed in 2004 we felt that there was still a need for the pre-school to continue. Sue & Robert Armstrong, the founders of the pre-school, were instrumental in arranging for the pre-school to relocate to the Pinehurst Community Centre. The revamped community centre was reopened in May 2004 and the Pines Pre-school has met there ever since.
