Library Trip - In June we took a group of the older children on the minibus down into town, to visit Hertford Library.  We were met by the library manager who showed the children around the library, and they all "borrowed" a book using the library machines, before returning it.  We finished with a special storytime, and each child came home with a goody bag including their own copy of the book we read.

Ranger Stu -  We had a great morning with Ranger Stu just before Christmas.  He brought in lots of different animals for us to see and hold, such as snakes, meerkats, owls and many others.  It was great fun to see the animals and learn something about them.

Christmas Activites  - We had some great fun leading up to Christmas this year.  On 3rd December we had our annual visit to Paradise Wildlife Park.  We were very blessed with the mild weather this year and spent some time looking at the animals, visited Father Christmas, and then had some time in the soft play area.  On 11th December we had our now traditional Christmas lunch, with a full Christmas dinner served at lunch club.  Then in the final week of term we had our Singing Extravaganza, with the hall full of parents, grandparents and friends supporting the children as they all sang a favourite song.  The final day of term say our Christmas party.  Great fun was had by all.

Ugly Bug Ball – The final day of the summer term saw our Ugly Bug Ball.  Children and staff alike dressed up as various insects and took part in different bug-related craft activites.  We finished the morning with a party lunch.  A great end to term.

Sports Day - We were pleased to have a dry morning for our sports day.  The children all took part in a variety of races - running, riding a bike, fancy dress etc.  We then had a hunt around the field for their names, and a snack and story under the gazebo.  We had plenty of time to play in the play area and a picnic lunch.

Easter Bonnet parade – On our final day of the spring term we had our annual Easter bonnet parade.  The children were invited to come in wearing a Easter bonnet they had made at home.  There were some amazing creations and all the children paraded round in front of the parents at the end to show them off.  We sang a few Easter songs, and had some Easter crafts.  A great way to finish off the term.

Christmas party and decorations day – On our final day of term we invited parents to join us for the morning if they wished and we made all sorts of amazing Christmas decorations, as well as playing some special Christmas games and having a party lunch together.  A great end to the term.

pines48Christmas dinner – On Friday 12th December the usual lunch club was replaced by a full Christmas dinner. Nearly every child came along to enjoy together a marvellous Christmas dinner.

Christmas trip to Paradise Wildlife Park  – Thursday 11th December saw our annual trip to Paradise Wildlife Park.  The weather stayed mostly fine, with just a short rainfall as we arrived.  We travelled down together in the minibus, and then spent an hour and a half looking at all the animals in the park.  There were many different favourites!  Then every child had the opportunity for a visit with Santa, before spending the final part of the morning running off some energy in the soft play.  A truly memorable trip.

Christmas Play – 5th December.  The hall was packed with family and friends to see all the children perform in our Christmas play.  This year they performed a very short nativity play.  They sang some lovely Christmas songs and each child had an acting part.  We followed this with some very festive refreshments.  A fantastic morning.

pines 9Harvest Festival – On 3rd October we held our annual harvest festival.  The children practiced a number of harvest songs and played their instruments with great enthusiasm.  Parents were invited to come along and watch.  We had collected various produce for our harvest celebration and 5 boxes were presented to some of the more elderly ladies who live on the estate.

Woodland Walk - May.  We took all the children along the Pinehurst Woodland Walk.  We looked at the wooden carved animals and we all searched for bugs and natural items to tie in with our Minibeasts topic.  We collected leaves, sticks and various other items to use in our craft activities back at pre-school.  We had a snack and a story in the field, and then we had a chance to play in the park.
